Collaboration and Personalisation

It is likely that the future of higher education will feature an increased depth and scale of partnerships and collaborations, with new learning opportunities for learners both locally, and globally.

For learners, collaborations can result in global idea exchanges, micro-international exchange programs, increased reach into international markets and connecting Australian and global learning experiences.

Experiences do not only include international travel, for example, "global idea exchange" invites learners across the world to contribute to the idea.  The start of the idea is a "spark" - a point for discussion, facilitated by big thinkers, experts and the inspired to contribute to ideas.

What might learning look like in 2020? : A possible scenario
Twenty-first century learning will be characterised by many collaborations and interactions, ‘anytime and anywhere’. Learners can expect to be able to learn and study wherever and whenever they want (Johnson et al., 2012, p. 17), with a preference to learn on a student’s own device (Johnson et al., 2012, p. 17; Casares et al., 2012, p.7). Online social learning networks and virtual online classrooms will create, share and discuss knowledge. Blogs, wikis, podcasts, and synchronous and asynchronous communication are central learning activities for first year students. Students will engage and interact with teachers, peers and friends in person as well as online.
